List of all ShopMagic events#
Events determine when ShopMagic checks an automation and which data is available to its filters, actions, and placeholders. Below are the events provided by ShopMagic and the add-ons listed on this page.
Select an event in the automation editor to see its configuration fields. Integration events require both the relevant ShopMagic add-on and the plugin or service it connects to.
ShopMagic Core#
WooCommerce orders#
Requires WooCommerce.
- New Order — triggered when a new order is created, regardless of its status. It does not confirm payment.
- Order Pending — triggered when an order becomes pending payment. ShopMagic also checks newly created pending orders after checkout processing.
- Order Processing — triggered when an order's status changes to Processing.
- Order On-Hold — triggered when an order's status changes to On hold.
- Order Completed — triggered when an order's status changes to Completed.
- Order Cancelled — triggered when an order's status changes to Cancelled.
- Order Failed — triggered when an order's status changes to Failed.
- Order Refunded — triggered when an order's status changes to Refunded. A partial refund does not necessarily produce this status change.
- Order Paid — triggered when an order changes from a status WooCommerce does not consider paid to one it considers paid. The default paid statuses are Processing and Completed. Moving from Processing to Completed does not trigger this event again.
- Order Status Changed — triggered when an order's status changes. Configure Status changes from and Status changes to, or use Any status. Supports custom statuses registered with WooCommerce.
- Order Note Added — triggered when a note is added to an order, including system and administrator notes. Use the available note filters to narrow the selection.
Where supported, Recheck order status before run checks whether the event's status requirement still applies before an action executes. This is useful for queued or delayed actions.
WooCommerce products#
Requires WooCommerce.
- Product published — triggered when a product changes from another status to Published. Republishing a product can trigger it again.
- Product updated — triggered when an existing product is updated.
Customers and ShopMagic lists#
- Customer Account Created — triggered when a new WordPress user account is created.
- Customer Opted In — triggered when a customer subscribes to the selected ShopMagic list.
- Customer Opted Out — triggered when a customer unsubscribes from the selected ShopMagic list.
The opt-in and opt-out events concern ShopMagic's own lists, rather than changes made directly in external email marketing services.
WordPress posts and comments#
- Post Published — triggered when a record of the selected Post type changes from another status to Published.
- Post updated — triggered when a record of the selected post type is updated, for example when its title, content, or slug changes.
- Post deleted — triggered when a record of the selected post type is moved to the trash or permanently deleted.
- Comment published — triggered when a new comment is submitted with approved status. In this version, this event does not separately listen for later approval of a previously pending comment.
ShopMagic Abandoned Carts#
Requires ShopMagic Abandoned Carts and WooCommerce.
- Abandoned Cart — triggered when the background check marks a recorded active cart as abandoned after the configured inactivity timeout.
Set the timeout under ShopMagic → Settings → Abandoned Carts. The event also provides Pause period for customer (days) to restrict repeated runs for the same customer.
ShopMagic Customer Coupons#
Requires ShopMagic Customer Coupons and WooCommerce.
- Coupon Published — triggered when a coupon changes to Published. Publishing it again after changing its status can trigger the event again.
- Order Coupon Used — triggered during new-order creation when the order contains at least one coupon. It does not wait for Completed status or confirm payment. Add a coupon filter if you want to target specific codes.
- Coupon Before Expiration — checks published coupons whose expiration date falls on the day selected through Days before expiration. Configure Time of the day for the daily check.
Coupon Published and Coupon Before Expiration require valid email restrictions that ShopMagic can resolve to customer records. The automation runs separately for each resolved customer. Wildcard restrictions alone do not identify an individual recipient.
Do not use the coupon-generating {{ shop.coupon }} placeholder with Coupon Published; creating another coupon could recursively trigger the same event.
ShopMagic Manual Actions#
Requires ShopMagic Manual Actions. These events let you preview matching existing records and start actions manually through Preview and run actions → Run actions.
- Customer Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching customer records.
- Post Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching WordPress posts.
- Order Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching WooCommerce orders.
- Cart Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching recorded carts. Requires the Abandoned Carts integration.
- Booking Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching bookings. Requires WooCommerce Bookings and its ShopMagic integration.
- Membership Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching memberships. Requires WooCommerce Memberships and its ShopMagic integration.
- Subscription Manual Trigger — runs actions for matching subscriptions. Requires WooCommerce Subscriptions and its ShopMagic integration.
Manual events do not automatically run whenever a record changes. Use filters and review the preview before starting a batch.
ShopMagic Review Requests#
Requires ShopMagic Review Requests and WooCommerce.
- Review Published — triggered when a product review is submitted as approved or an existing review changes to approved status. Unapproved reviews do not trigger it.
ShopMagic for Contact Form 7#
Requires Contact Form 7 and its ShopMagic integration.
- Contact Form 7 Submission — triggered when a customer successfully submits the selected contact form.
ShopMagic for Gravity Forms#
Requires Gravity Forms and its ShopMagic integration.
- Gravity Form Submission — triggered when the selected Gravity Forms form is submitted.
ShopMagic for WooCommerce Bookings#
Requires WooCommerce Bookings and its ShopMagic integration.
- Booking Before Event — runs a daily check for bookings whose start date falls the configured number of days ahead. Set Days before booking and Time of the day.
- Booking Status Changed — triggered when a booking's status changes.
Note: In the supplied version, Booking Before Event queries the booking start date, despite its built-in description referring to the booking ending.
ShopMagic for WooCommerce Memberships#
Requires WooCommerce Memberships and its ShopMagic integration.
- New Membership — triggered when a new customer membership is created.
- Membership Deleted — triggered when a customer membership is deleted.
- Membership Before Expires — runs a daily check for eligible memberships ending on the date selected through Days before end. Configure Time of the day for the check.
- Membership Status Changed — triggered when a membership's status changes.
ShopMagic for WooCommerce Subscriptions#
Requires WooCommerce Subscriptions and its ShopMagic integration.
- New Subscription — triggered when a subscription is created through the supported checkout, administration, or API creation hooks.
- Subscription Before Renewal — runs a daily check for subscriptions whose next payment date falls the configured number of days ahead. Set Days before renewal and Time of the day. The subscription must still be Active when the action executes.
- Subscription Trial End — triggered by WooCommerce Subscriptions' scheduled trial-end event. In this integration, it is not a configurable “days before trial end” event.
- Subscription Status Changed — triggered when a subscription's status changes. Configure the source and destination status conditions as needed.
- Subscription Before End — runs a daily check for eligible subscriptions whose scheduled end date falls the configured number of days ahead. Set Days before end and Time of the day.
Timing and availability#
Daily “before” events select records by their scheduled calendar date. They do not promise execution an exact number of hours before that record's start, renewal, or end time. Background processing and cron configuration can affect execution time.
Publishing an automation does not replay earlier status changes or submissions. Manual Actions can process existing records, while daily scheduled events check records that match their configured future dates.
Some add-ons, including Advanced Filters, Delayed Actions, Slack, Twilio, and Google Sheets, extend filters, scheduling, or actions without introducing separate event types.
