What is a WooCommerce product recommendation email
If you are running a store, most likely you know the cross-selling term. There’s a chance that you are even using this strategy. With ShopMagic, we will be using it. That’s why we will create a WooCommerce product recommendation email which will be sent four weeks after initial purchase. Time period which I suggested (4 weeks) is just an example. Installing and activating ShopMagic
Free version of ShopMagic can be downloaded from the WordPress website. You can also download it from WordPress dashboard. Install and activate it like any other plugin.
For the sake of saving time, I won’t be writing here a full guide how to install and activate our add-ons. If you have any problems, we have an excellent article available in our documentation, which should be helpful.
Creating a new automation
In ShopMagic menu, click on Add new. It will open new window in your dashboard. Here, you will be creating an automation for WooCommerce product recommendation email. From the available events select Order Completed.
Select the Recheck order status before run option, to be 100% sure, that the order status did not change before the automation’s start.
Do not forget to add title. It’s entirely up to you, how you title your new automation.
Adding a filter to your automation
WooCommerce product recommendation email is an example of an automation, where assigning a filter is very good idea. Thanks to the filter we will be targeting a specified product with our email. You will be able to connect order for product A and send product recommendation email for product B.
HINT: Part of ShopMagic PRO is an Advanced Filters add-on. This add-on comes with lots of additional filters. If you prefer to target a specified category instead of an item, with Advanced Filters it will be a breeze.
Creating an action for WooCommerce product recommendation email
Final part of our automation. As always, screenshot comes first, so take a look at my configuration:
We are starting with selecting a type of action. Select Send email. It’s the best choice for our example.
You can write your own description to distinguish this automation from similar ones. As you can see in my screenshot, I described mine as WooCommerce product recommendation email and added product name.
Now it’s time to delay an email. I delayed mine for 4 weeks. It’s enough time to get acquainted with the item. On the other hand, four weeks is a good time to remember customer about your store 😉
Field To is for the recipient. Initially it’s filled with placeholder. Subject and Heading also support placeholders, so feel free to use them.
You can choose from WooCommerce Template and none in the Template field.
Message field also supports placeholders. In this field we will write a message to the customer, with our product recommendations.
